We are family owned & operated by Iditarod Musher, Kris Hoffman, his wife Sara and our two small children, Hadley (8) and Hunter (6). Located in Steamboat Springs, CO, we are a kennel with a 40 year history of racing & breeding Alaskan Huskies for the Iditarod.
We love being able to share this amazing sport and “forgotten way of life” with all of our guests. It is so rewarding to see the smile on someone’s face as they learn how to drive their own dog team and experience the thrill that is Dog Sledding.
Come join us for the experience of a lifetime that the whole family is sure to enjoy.
Alaskan Huskies are friendly and energetic. Bred for speed, strength, and endurance, they are some of the world’s most talented athletes. Properly conditioned and with state-of-the-art nutrition, these dogs can run over 150 miles a day across some of the most unforgiving frozen terrain on earth. Sled dogs thrive in the cold of winter and love the snow!
Kris Hoffman: Kris is a dog sledding guide, Iditarod Musher and race veteran. He moved to Steamboat in 1996 to spend his winters skiing and his summers traveling and guiding backpacking, kayaking and climbing trips. In 1996, he started mushing and life has gone to the dogs ever since. For the last 22 years Kris has owned and operated Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works. He loves going to work every day with his best friends; the dogs and his wife, Sara and children, Hadley & Hunter. Sharing this "Forgotten Way of Life" with all our guests is such a reward and seeing the joy on their faces when they step on the runners for the first time is priceless.
Sara Hoffman: Sara has been guiding and mushing with Grizzle-T since 2003 when she met her husband Kris and he introduced her to this amazing life that is dog sledding. Along with Kris and all our amazing guides, Sara loves interacting with all the guests and sharing with everyone the pure joy that is dog sledding.
"The dogs are part of the family in addition to our daughter Hadley and our son Hunter."
Hadley and Hunter have mushing in their genes.
Hadley was born in early December, 2014 surprising us a month early at the beginning of our 2014-15 season... She was obviously ready to meet her furry brothers and sisters. From day one she has had a special connection with all the dogs and took her first sled ride at 8 weeks old. Since then she has become an amazing little musher; most recently mushing a 5 dog team.
Hunter joined the pack in October 2016 and like his sister was immediately attached to "his puppies". Just like his big sister he loves to mush and wants to help do anything it takes to manage the kennel but he also likes to go fast and ride his snowmobile....
Hadley and Hunter love and are loved by all their furry brothers and sisters and can't wait to introduce them to you!
