Please email info@steamboatdogsledding.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Typically we have 2 Guests per sled. If your group has and odd number and includes smaller children, we will sometimes have 3 guests in one sled depending on the size and weight of all the guests. We will NOT put more than 3 guests on a sled (even if 4 people are within the 450 lb weight limit.)
With 2 guests per/sled one guest is the musher & the other is the passenger. Half way around the trail if both guests are 80 lbs or more we will stop & switch so that each guest has a chance to mush/drive the sled. Smaller guests under 80 lbs may have the option to help mush the sled by standing on the runners with an adult behind them (not by themselves). If you have 2 smaller passengers sharing the sled they will take turns mushing with the adult.
Unfortunately, no. We do not allow more than three guests on a sled, even if the total weight is within the 450 lb limit.
Per our policy, Lap Children (2 year olds) are welcome to participate, but they must be held by an attentive parent or guardian in the sled while another member of your group, weighing over 80 lbs, will be required to mush/drive the sled.
We consider anyone 80 lbs and over to be big enough to drive / mush a dog sled. Under 16 should be paired with an adult but we can make exceptions; please call if you have questions
Guests are responsible for dressing in warm winter clothing, outerwear and insulated winter boots. Dress like you would to go skiing in warm layers avoiding cotton next to skin as it does not keep you as warm. Be prepared for changing winter mountain weather.
Remember... you can always remove a layer, you can't add it if you don't have it!

Our alternate trail is located just north of Steamboat Springs on National Forest land. Due to space limitations, this trail can accommodate 4 sleds per tour, compared to our usual 8 sleds on the primary trail.
The alternate route is slightly shorter, measuring just over 8 miles. Tours on this trail typically take a bit less time, as fewer stops are required along the route.
We are able to operate three tours daily on the alternate trail with the following start times:
Shuttle pickup times may be adjusted to accommodate the change in location and tour schedule. Guests who choose to drive directly to the trail will receive updated driving directions, and departure times may also be adjusted based on the revised schedule.
