Experience the Best WITH Steamboat Dog Sledding®

Terms & Policies

Please review the following policies before completing your reservation with Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works. By booking a reservation, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Policies.

Weather, Snow & Trail Conditions

Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works operates in a dynamic mountain environment where weather, snow, and trail conditions can change rapidly and unexpectedly.

Our typical experience takes place on a 12.5-mile private backcounrty trail. When snow or trail conditions are not suitable, we may operate from an alternate location on National Forest land with a route of just under 8 miles.

Specific trail locations, routes, mileage, and conditions cannot be guaranteed.

We reserve the right to:

  • Change tour routes or use alternate trails when required by weather, snow, trail, safety, or operational conditions.
  • Delay or modify a tour when conditions require.
  • Cancel a tour when weather, snow, trail, or other conditions make operation unsafe or impractical.

All operating decisions are made with the safety of our guests, dogs, and staff as the top priority.

If the trail location changes, guests will receive updated location and driving information. Always use the most recent driving directions provided by Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works.

*Do not use our online mailing address or search for our business address online for directions to the trail as it may be incorrect. Our mailing address is not the trail location.

Minimum Booking Requirement

Tours require a minimum of two sleds to operate.

If fewer than two sleds are booked for a scheduled tour time, Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works may:

  • Reschedule your reservation to another available tour time, or
  • Cancel your reservation and provide a full refund.

We appreciate your flexibility as we work to safely operate tours in changing mountain conditions.

Transportation

Transportation is not included in the tour price. Guests must select one transportation option during checkout:

  • Grizzle-T Shuttle — $25 per guest
  • Drive Yourself — No additional charge

Grizzle-T Shuttle

Guests selecting the shuttle must be dressed and ready at their designated pickup location at the scheduled pickup time.

The shuttle cannot wait for late arrivals.

Shuttle routes vary daily based on guest locations, and multiple pickup stops are typical.

Driving Yourself

Guests who choose to drive themselves must use the trail location and driving directions provided by Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works.

Trail locations may change based on weather and snow conditions. If you receive a follow-up email with updated driving directions, the most recent directions supersede any previous location information.

Check-In, Late Arrivals & No-Shows

Please arrive on time, dressed and ready to participate, with all required waivers completed.

We operate multiple tours each day on a strict schedule involving several team members. We are unable to wait for late arrivals, as delays affect other tours throughout the day.

Late arrivals and no-shows will forfeit the full price of the tour.

Shuttle guests must also be ready at their designated pickup location at the scheduled pickup time. The shuttle cannot wait for late arrivals.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations within 72 hours of your scheduled tour time or shuttle pickup will forfeit the FULL Price of the tour.
  • No-shows and late arrivals will forfeit the FULL Price of the tour.
  • Cancellations or changes made more than 72 hours before your scheduled tour will receive a FULL Refund.
  • If Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works cancels a tour due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, guests will receive a full refund.
  • All cancellations must be made by phone at 970-870-1782.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or make a change to your reservation.

Weight & Sled Capacity

  • Individual guest weight limit: 300 lbs.
  • Maximum combined sled weight: 450 lbs.
  • Maximum occupancy: 3 guests per sled, subject to guest size and combined weight.

If the combined weight of two guests exceeds the 450-lb. sled capacity, separate single-occupancy sleds will be required.

Single-occupancy sleds are subject to availability. Additional charges apply when a single-occupancy sled is required or requested.

Physical Requirements

Mushing / Driving a Dog Sled

Mushing is an active experience. Guests who wish to mush/drive a dog sled must:

  • Be physically capable of standing on the back of a sled for 2+ hours in cold winter conditions.
  • Have sufficient balance and core strength to safely drive a sled through snowy and sometimes uneven terrain.
  • Be able to safely follow instructions and assist with operating the sled.

If you have an injury, recent surgery, or physical limitation that may affect your ability to safely participate, please contact us before booking so we can help determine whether the experience is appropriate for you.

Riding as a Passenger

Passengers ride seated in the sled basket on a cushion and are bundled in blankets.

Passengers should be comfortable spending an extended period of time outdoors in cold winter conditions and variable terrain.

Children & Lap Children

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A 2-year-old Lap Child must be held by an adult passenger, with another guest in the group available to drive the sled.

Pregnancy Policy

For safety reasons, Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works cannot accept pregnant guests beyond 20 weeks for any sled ride, whether mushing or riding as a passenger.

Guests who are under 20 weeks pregnant are strongly encouraged to consult their healthcare provider before participating.

Participation while pregnant is at the guest's own risk.

What to Bring & Winter Conditions

Guests are responsible for arriving appropriately dressed and prepared for winter mountain conditions.

This includes warm layers, insulated winter boots, appropriate winter outerwear, gloves or mittens, and other clothing suitable for cold, snowy, and changing mountain conditions.

Guests should follow all preparation and clothing recommendations provided by Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works.

Sober Activity Policy

Dog sledding is a sober activity.

Guests who arrive intoxicated or otherwise unable to safely participate will not be permitted to participate and will be charged the full price of the tour.

Operating Conditions & Guest Responsibility

Dog sledding is an outdoor adventure activity conducted in a winter mountain environment.

Conditions may include:

  • Cold temperatures
  • Wind
  • Snow and ice

We will make reasonable efforts to provide the experience described at the time of booking while maintaining the safety of our guests, dogs, and staff.
